Absorbency

Drinks the water. Never pushes it.

GSM is grams per square metre, meaning how much fibre is actually in the towel. A typical drying towel runs 400 to 600. These run 1600. That is not a rounding difference, it is roughly three times the material standing between your paint and a water spot.

The pile is twisted loop, so each strand acts like a wick and pulls water up into the towel by capillary action instead of smearing it across the panel. It lifts up to eight times its own weight in water, which is why a panel comes off clean in one pass, with no drips chasing you and no streaks left behind.

Before you buy.

Should I get the Lil' Bird or the Big Bird?

The Lil' Bird is 18" x 18", the one you reach for constantly for glass, door jambs, mirrors, wheels and quick knock-downs. The Big Bird is 18" x 37" and sheets a whole panel in one pull. Most people end up with both: the big one for the body, the little one for everything else.

Do I need to wash it before the first use?

Yes. Pre-wash before first use, it clears any loose fibre from manufacturing and opens up the pile so the towel hits full absorbency straight away.

How do I wash it so it keeps absorbing?

Machine wash on a delicate cycle, tumble dry on low heat or air fluff. Never use detergents with softeners, bleach, or fabric softener, they coat the microfibre and kill absorbency permanently. Wash microfibre separately from cotton, and keep wash and dry below 140°F.

Will it scratch my paint?

The edge is seamless, there's no stitched border to drag or catch, so nothing hard ever touches the panel. The usual rule still applies: only dry a clean car, and if the towel hits the ground, it goes in the wash, not back on the paint.

Can I use it inside the car too?

Yes. It's safe on glass, chrome, trim, wheels and interior surfaces as well as paint. Most people keep one towel for paint and a second for wheels and door jambs so grit never crosses over.
