Desert Threat Profile

UV intensity: High altitude and low atmospheric moisture make desert UV radiation significantly more intense than coastal or temperate climates. Paint oxidation rates are higher. Mineral dust: Desert dust is abrasive mineral particulate. It isn't inert. When mixed with the trace moisture from morning dew and then dried by afternoon heat, it can create a mild abrasive paste on paint surfaces. Vehicles parked outdoors in desert environments get micro-scratched by dust events in ways that are cumulative over time.

Temperature cycling: Daily temperature swings cause paint and clear coat to expand and contract repeatedly. Protection Strategy for Desert Vehicles
